Key Benefits
Enable The ProcessNow that you have worked so hard to impress your buyers and make them want your products, you need to make them available for purchase. Most buyers for EDI compliant retailers must be able to access your UPC catalog online. It is not as easy as it sounds to get your catalog online. You must first have UPC assigned to all of your products by style, size and color. Each UPC must have valid NRF color and size codes assigned to them. The catalog itself must be set up correctly as well. Catalogs are arranged by selection codes which can not have duplicate descriptions. Under the selection codes are the product ID's (PID). These must be unique and can not have duplicate descriptions either. The descriptions are only allowed to be 20 characters long and are not allowed to specify color or fit size. This is done at the UPC level. There are usually, but not always, several UPC's for each PID. Each UPC under any given PID must have a unique color or size NRF code. In order to get your catalog online and viewable by your buyers it must pass a strict test, which if done improperly can take months to complete. The mandatory test is verification that your catalog is compliant with requirements. Catalogs that are not compliant can generate huge "incident charges." These could be up to $250.00 each time your buyer tries to access a non-compliant catalog entry. The charge backs can add up quickly. At DBM Consulting Services we have years of experience in getting catalogs compliant on the first try. In as little as 2 to 3 weeks we have gone from creating UPC's and defining NRF codes to complete compliance and online production.
