Maintain An Efficient Catalog

Once you have your catalog online you must maintain it to keep it efficient. The UPC catalog is the first step in the EDI process. An updated catalog sets the tone for a more efficient process. When you discontinue products you should reuse the UPC's so that you will always have enough codes available, especially if you only have 100 or 1,000 codes available for use. Buying too many codes is very expensive, and why pay for what you do not need?

When you add UPC's it is important to maintain consistency in how you define you NRF color and size codes. There is a lot of room for errors in this process. Inconsistency can lead to noncompliance, which leads to large charge backs. You need to be able to fit as many new UPC's as possible into existing Product ID's and only create new ones when necessary.

You will need one person doing this every time in order to keep it consistent. You can't necessarily have the same employee do this all the time. By using DBM Consulting Services you will have a standard approach to your catalog and you will have experts handling it for you. This will free you up to run your business without having to worry about all the details of your catalog. Contact us and become one of our satisfied customers.
