History Of DBM Consulting Services

DBM Consulting Services was formed by David B. Mueller in January of 2004. Although the company was formed relatively recently, the idea has been forming for several years.

Before founding his own company David Mueller began his career with computers in 1980 in the US Air Force. After the Air Force David Mueller worked for several major defense contractors in their engineering units, testing the latest in digital RADAR and satellite systems.

In the late 80's and early 90's Don and Cathy Mueller formed Mueller Associates and later The EDI Connection. David Mueller started working as the lead Customer Service Technician for The EDI Connection when it was still in it's infancy in 1993.

During this time The EDI Connection created the service bureau. Their Service Bureau was able to handle manufacturers, distributors, and wholesalers needs, who were all required to use EDI to trade with their retailers, and completely free their minds to run their businesses. During the early days of EDI it was a very effective solution.

In 1997 The EDI Connection, one of the very first EDI service bureaus in the country, was acquired by QRS Corporation. They became The QRS LA Service Bureau. For years they supported a system known as WinShip, which was partly developed by David Mueller. WinShip was the first fully automated EDI system that featured "autopacking" and created UCC-128 labels integrated with the 856 Advanced Ship Notice. The service bureau got much larger and the individual customer was more difficult to serve.

Over the years, David Mueller watched the service bureau grow and become less responsive to each individual's needs. They tended to make everything more generic and did not allow for the differences in the business practices of each individual customer. Not everyone can ship using a predetermined packing list. Some companies ship pre-packed cartons, some ship on pallets, some ship garments on hangars and some ship in neat inner-pack quantities. There are as many ways to ship as there are products out there, and a service bureau simply can't handle all of these options. Also, many companies have a wide variety accounting, warehousing and inventory systems. Service Bureau's start becoming a tool and not the entire solution. It becomes necessary for the supplier to have their own EDI expert.

So, when the LA Service Bureau was closed and consolidated with operations in New York, David Mueller formed DBM Consulting Services, answering the customers' demand for an affordable EDI/EC expert consultant. David Mueller is one of the countries leading experts in the field of EDI and Electronic Commerce solutions. He has Pre-Paid Hourly Rate Packages and will meet with potential customers one on one to discuss their individual needs. Pricing is always reasonable.
